The LEGO Movie Videogame is an adaption of the popular movie that was widely praised as one of the most original and creative of its kind, and this game is equally quirky and entertaining.

The player takes the mantel of Emmett, a construction worker in the LEGO city of Brickburg, which is based on the real world city of New York. A girl from another dimension shows up and takes Emmett on an adventure to find a powerful item that will help peace come back to the world. The girl's name is Wyldstyle, and she claims to come from a distant universe.

The distant universe described by Wyldstyle is simply another themed LEGO world. The two characters must travel between different LEGO universes in order to complete their tasks. One such universe is modeled after the Wild West, and another is a tropical Japanese setting. The player will encounter a number of different characters throughout the game, including Batman and Unikitty, and cat-unicorn hybrid.

Just like many of the other games in the LEGO game saga, players will advance through levels by completing certain objectives. The main goal is to escape or finish a level by dealing with the enemies and solving the puzzles that block the player's path to the end.

The game will require players to use teamwork between the individual characters to advance, much in the same way as older LEGO games. This allows the puzzles to be much more advanced than they would be with only single-character utility.

The puzzles in this version of the classic LEGO saga are a bit more complex than its predecessors, which is nice for players who found the older games a bit too simplistic. In this sense, the puzzles aren't actually harder to solve, but the solutions aren't as obvious as they once were.

There are a number of different ways these puzzles can be solved. Combining objects and building things are two of the best methods, but destroying elements that block paths is just as important. In many cases, players will have to trigger small events that will only trigger a small window for advancement. There are two types of builders in this game, which are the master builder and the regular builder. Regular builders must have blueprints to produce constructions, but master builders can build without blueprints. They can only do this by collecting objects from the scene and recombining them.

This LEGO world is completely made from LEGO bricks, which was not the case for older LEGO games. This makes the world that much more immersive, and it is quite successful at seamlessly blending different structures. The detail is amazing, and the cut-scenes are filmed like those from the movie itself, which helps bring back the idea that the game is actually based on an iconic cinematic experience.
